Dealer Comments

Few cars capture the spirit of the 1960s quite like a first-generation Mustang Fastback, and this beautifully renovated 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback combines the iconic look with considerably more performance than it had when it left the factory.

Finished in its original Ivy Green Metallic over Ivy Gold color combination, this Mustang has been comprehensively renovated while retaining the classic appearance that makes the early Fastback so desirable. The paint and body present beautifully, with straight body lines, excellent gaps and panel fitment, and a deep, polished finish that shows off one of Ford's most distinctive colors of the era.

This is a C-code Fastback that has been upgraded with several desirable GT-style features, including trumpeted exhaust and front disc brakes. It also features a 1966-style instrument cluster, functional Rally-Pac, and center console, giving the interior the sporty appearance these early Mustangs deserve.

The biggest transformation, however, is under the hood.

Installed less than 500 miles ago is a fresh 347 cubic-inch stroker V8 equipped with aluminum cylinder heads, an Edelbrock aluminum intake, and Holley 4-barrel carburetor. The result is a Mustang with serious power and an exhaust note to match. A true dual exhaust system gives the 347 a deep, muscular sound without losing the character you'd expect from a classic Ford.

And thankfully, you get to control that V8 the old-fashioned way. The 347 is backed by a 4-speed Toploader manual transmission with a Hurst shifter, making this Fastback every bit as entertaining from behind the wheel as its specifications suggest.

The car isn't simply powerfulit has also been upgraded to make that performance enjoyable. Power steering, front disc brakes, and a dual-reservoir master cylinder provide improved control and confidence on the road. A set of modern 15-inch styled-steel Pony wheels completes the exterior with a period-inspired look and a slightly more purposeful stance.

Inside, the beautiful Ivy Gold interior provides a striking contrast against the Ivy Green Metallic exterior. The working Rally-Pac, center console, upgraded instrumentation, and Hurst shifter create a fantastic driver's environment, while an upgraded Bluetooth® radio and sound system discreetly adds modern entertainment and connectivity.

Attention to detail continues into the trunk, which is highly detailed and properly finished, complete with a full-size spare tire and jack. It's the kind of area that's often overlooked during a build, and its presentation complements the quality seen throughout the rest of the car.

Most importantly, this Mustang performs. The fresh 347 is very powerful, the 4-speed makes it engaging to drive, and the car feels terrific out on the road. The dual exhaust delivers exactly the right soundtrack every time you work through the gears.

This is not being represented as a factory GT or an untouched original Mustang. Instead, it's something arguably more enjoyable: a beautifully renovated C-code Fastback in its original color combination, thoughtfully upgraded with GT-inspired equipment and a fresh, seriously capable drivetrain.

With its gorgeous Ivy Green Metallic and Ivy Gold combination, less-than-500-mile 347 stroker, aluminum heads, 4-speed Toploader, Hurst shifter, working Rally-Pac, front disc brakes, power steering, detailed trunk, and beautiful fit and finish, this is a Fastback that's ready to show on Saturday and drive hard on Sunday.
